DECEMBER 2006
Year end Statistics: Overall Ibizan Hounds Lure
Coursing in Canada
#1 Sailor
#2 Sunrise
#3 Lestat
#4Ellie If Ellie had not come in season and have to
"take some time off" she could have taken the third
position. That'll be the last time that'll happen as
I spayed Ellie in November. Your kids look great. Now
you can retired from your reproductive career and do
what you love - run.
The TOP 10 overall dogs are all whippets or
greyhounds. What I find really interesting is if you
look further at the overall statistics is that you
will find SAILOR is the highest ranked non-whippet,
non-greyhound and is #11 OVERALL.
Also drove to Georgia for the New Year's Gala. Sailor
took BOB all 3 days Sunrise was 2nd to her brother and
Ellie had a very respectable first and 2 2nds in FCh.
While in Georgia I took in an ASFA judging seminar. I
feel very prepared having gone through the Canadian
system. I am provisional for most of my breeds.
Year end ASFA: Not Bad for limited competition
Sailor # 9
Sunrise #14
Ellie # 20
OCTOBER 2006
Thanksgiving weekend: Sailor back-to -back BOB and
back-to-back BIFs. Sailor's Hot!
Again not to be outdone Sunrise has an amazing run and

Her mother Ellie did the same thing in 2002 in Racine,
WI.
SEPTMBER 2006
I started apprentice judging mostly due to a push from
Heather Dansereau.
Labour day weekend in Princeton: Sailor's first BIF
Lots of field trial with Sailor and Sunrise trading
off for BOB. Nice trip to Ottawa for a field trial in
Carp. Stayed at my brother's new house - very close
to the site. How handy and can I already make
reservations for next year Robert?
AUGUST 2006
Time for another road trip. Off to Winnipeg for the
Ibizan Hound Club of Canada first Prairie Regional
Specialty. There would be no actual National
Specialty this year. The breed was won by Faith one
of Roberta Hozempa's puppies. Sailor won the breed at
the Manitoba Gazehound Association Specialty and the
next day Sunrise won the breed at the field trial and
her first BEST IN FIELD.
Back home to New Liskeard for our own Temiskaming
Kennel Club show. What a month Sunrise is awarded not
1 but 2 Gr 2. Thank You! Sailor, not to be outdone
scores a Gr 1 and for the first time every I have to
show for BEST IN SHOW. That was stressful.
Professional Handler, Professional Handler,
Professional Handler, Well-Known Long Time Breeder and
little "ole" me.
Also another first - OLCA had their first field trial
at the farm Sailor won BOB the first day then Sunrise
the next day but neither could catch Ginny the whippet
for BIF either day.
JULY 2006
Sailor's turn for a BIG win! Kawartha Kennel Club Gr

Sailor and Sunrise competed in their first field trial
at the Afghan Hound Club of Canada
in Codrington. It was also Iron Dog weekend and
although Ellie is still the fastest for straights and

did get a trophy, as she was the OVERALL turtle, yes

What a hard decision!! Which boy do I keep? In the
end it was Sailor, who was originally Lightening or
Lightening Bug named for the bolt of lightening that
graced the back of his neck or the fact that he was
the smallest boy, my little bug. He always got fed
first and last too. I couldn't call him Bug, how
would that sound at the II at 5 or 6 am when the call
him for roll call. Ibizan Bug to roll call or Ibizan
Bug to the line. Not very noble, so I always wanted a
Sailor. And that's how he became Sailor - IcyCold
Firstmate.
Wilbur- IcyCold First to Fly Wright, my prettiest face
boy, goes with Josh to his new home near Wellandport,
Ontario.
Sailor and Sunrise will now start their show careers

goes to her new home in London Ontario with Ryan and
Amanda. We hope to see her again on the coursing
field as Ryan and Amanda also have whippet Drake who
courses.
Otis - IcyCold First Love, aka Romeo, as he had a
heart pattern on his head goes to his new home in
Collingwood, Ontario with Veronica and her Weimeraner,
Hunter.
Still at home are 2 boys and my pick girl. Now which
girl did I keep? She was the first born, the biggest
puppy, she was also known as Mickey Mouse girl for the
silhouette of Mickey Mouse on the top of her head and
back of her neck. I had the name IcyCold First Light
of Day - Sunrise, picked out for a long time.
The Georgina Kennel Club held a Sanction Match. Both
boys were entered and Sunrise. Sunrise has great
stage presence and knows when to put up her ears at
the judge. The boys - well, they had a great time but
are a little "unfocused" yet. Sunrise even won Gr
